Joseph A. DeSalvo
Co-founder & Executive Vice President

Joseph A. DeSalvoCo-founder & Executive Vice President, established the company in 1984 with his late wife Joy DeSalvo. Prior to founding DeSalvo Construction, Joe served as an estimator and later general manager of Ben Rudick and Sons Inc. in Youngstown, Ohio. Mr. DeSalvo majored in engineering at Youngstown State University and later completed coursework in construction management. He is a veteran of the United States Army and has served The Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania in several capacities over the years.

Joseph K. DeSalvo
CHC, President

Joseph K. DeSalvo, CHC, President, joined the company in 1996 beginning his career in the field as a general laborer, and then as an assistant estimator/project manager. Joe became an estimator/project manager in 1998 and was then promoted to executive vice president in 2004. In 2013, Joe was named president of DeSalvo Construction. Joe manages all company operations and oversees all current projects. He attended Eastern Michigan University from 1988 through 1990 and transferred to Youngstown State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1993. An active member of the Builders Association, Joe is a past president and currently serves on the executive committee and as a CAP Trustee. On March 17, 2010, Joseph K. DeSalvo was one of the first construction professionals in the country to earn the ASHE Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC) credentials. Joe maintains the CHC credential by attending healthcare certified courses, seminars, and classes recognized by the American Hospital Association and the American Society for Healthcare Engineering.

Sandra S. Algoe
Treasurer / Office Manager

Sandra S. AlgoeTreasurer/Office Manager, joined DeSalvo Construction in 1987 as secretary to Joseph A. DeSalvo. As the company began to evolve, Sandra also developed and fulfilled the role of office manager. Sandra manages all daily office activities including accounts receivable, accounts payable, office payroll and all other reporting and record keeping. In 2016, Sandra was elected treasurer of the company. Over the last 30 years, she has continuously worked to enhance her skills through extensive coursework in numerous fields, including technology, accounting, human resources and safety along with business management courses at Youngstown State University.

James D. Bayer
Vice President / Preconstruction Services

James D. BayerVice President / Preconstruction Services. Jim joined DeSalvo Construction in 2006 after earning his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University. He served the company as a project manager and estimator prior to his current role, where he is responsible for coordination of all estimating, cost analysis, and procurement activities. He is an active member of the community. He serves on the board of the Jackson-Milton Hot Stove youth sports organization as well as the Builders Association of Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, where he mentors students participating in the association's annual Estimating Competition at Youngstown State University. Jim is also a past board member of Cadence Care Network, where he served from 2016 to 2020.

Mark J. Dodd
LEED AP BD+C, Vice President / Senior Project Manager

Mark J. Dodd, LEED AP BD+C, Vice President/Senior Project Manager, began his career as a union carpenter in 1995 and joined DeSalvo Construction in 2012. Mark is responsible for overseeing scheduling, documentation, project cost reporting, resources, and quality control for all construction projects from commencement to warranty expiration and beyond. Over the years, Mark has successfully managed a substantial number of residential, commercial and industrial projects. He also holds an associate degree in Business Management Technology from the University of Akron and is a United States Green Building Council-LEED Accredited Professional with Building Design and Construction specialization.

Laura S. Merrifield
Estimator / Project Manager

Laura S. Merrifield, Estimator / Project Manager, joined DeSalvo Construction in 2006 with several years of experience in construction and customer service under her belt. She assisted and supported project managers, estimators and superintendents before earning a promotion to estimator and project manager. She has successfully completed a variety of projects ranging from interior and exterior renovations, to new retail, restaurant, hospital and office buildings.

Laura attended Youngstown State University with a major in Accounting and a minor in Economics. She continues to attend classes to remain current in all aspects of the construction industry. Laura is also an active member of the Builders Association.

Kyle J. Citino
Estimator / Project Manager

Kyle J. Citino, Estimator / Project Manager, began working at DeSalvo Construction in 2018 after gaining six years of experience in project management. He earned his associate’s degree in Construction Management from Stark State College and bachelor’s degree in Construction Engineering from the University of Akron. He has completed OSHA 30, ICRA, CPR and AED training.

Estimator / Project Manager

Jo-Lynn Campbell, Estimator / Project Manager, joined DeSalvo Construction’s estimating department in 2018 after earning both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and an associate degree in Applied Sciences with honors from Youngstown State University. Skills that Jo-Lynn brings to the company include Computer Aided Drafting & Design work and the latest estimating techniques gained through the YSU/Builders Association Estimating Competition.

Melissa S. Moore
Accounting Assistant / Administrative Assistant

Melissa S. Moore, Accounting Assistant/ Administrative Assistant, began working at DeSalvo Construction in 2006 after graduating from Thiel College that same year where she earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Business Administration. Melissa’s duties include weekly payroll for all field employees, accounts payable, and job cost data reporting, recording, and analysis to support the estimating department.
